Junior SQL Developer – Data & AI Automation

About the role

We are looking for a Junior SQL Developer to join our client‑facing team on‑site five days a week. You will work with data across spreadsheets and relational databases, using SQL, Excel, Google Sheets and generative AI tools to streamline reporting and automate routine processes.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and optimise complex Excel and Google Sheets models using advanced formulas and pivot tables.
• Write, modify and run SQL queries (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, GROUP BY, etc.) to extract and transform data.
• Design, test and refine prompts for AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to automate text generation, data summarisation and cleansing.
• Develop scripts in VBA or Google Apps Script to automate repetitive data‑entry and reporting tasks.
• Assist with data auditing, cleansing and quality verification across spreadsheets and databases.
• Create clear, actionable reports and dashboards for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables).
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and ability to write SQL queries.
• Experience crafting and evaluating prompts for generative AI tools.
• Analytical mindset with attention to data quality.
• Experience with Python or R for data manipulation is a plus.
• Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Google Looker Studio is beneficial.
