Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Seasats builds unmanned surface vessels that operate for months at sea, relying on robust mechanical systems. The company is expanding its mechanical engineering team and seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer to work closely with senior engineers and vehicle design leadership. The role offers hands‑on design and fabrication experience while developing ownership of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design parts and assemblies in SolidWorks under senior guidance.
• Create timelines, plans, and configuration‑managed CAD models.
• Develop fixtures, tooling, and jigs for manufacturing.
• Source suppliers, manage BOM entries, and evaluate production options.
• Support process improvements to boost production efficiency.
• Assemble and perform QA on incoming components from external vendors.
• Test new and existing vessel components.

Required profile

• 0‑2 years of experience with mechanical parts in a team setting (internships, co‑ops, projects).
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and basic GD&T.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, structures, DFM trade‑offs, and fabrication methods.
• Interest or background in maritime applications.
• Ability to communicate with suppliers and track BOMs.
• Self‑starter attitude with strong organizational skills.
