Junior Development Team Support

About the role

Amentum's contract supports more than 12 projects covering front-end equipment configuration and maintenance, back-end repositories, dashboards and the full data-processing thread. Teams range from one to two developers to teams of 12 and work closely with customers on requirements and solutions. This position is for a junior software engineer or Linux system administrator supporting multiple projects, working Monday to Friday with flexible start and end times.

Key responsibilities

• Help set up development environments, including virtual machine configuration
• Provide software patching support for security compliance and development library updates (e.g., Java)
• Learn to configure equipment for lab and production environments
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design, performance requirements or configuration changes
• Modify existing software or configurations to add new features
• Debug configuration and software issues
• Review security scans and implement mitigation steps
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
• Recommend improvements to documentation and development process standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution
• 1 year of Linux administration experience
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• 1 year of experience with a bachelor's degree preferred

Required skills

• Minimal Java experience
• Scripting, Ansible or Puppet
• Preferred: Docker, Maven, GitLab, CI/CD
