Junior Desktop Support Technician

About the role

The Junior Desktop Support Technician provides first‑line technical assistance to end users, handling setup, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, peripherals, and standard business applications. This entry‑level position is ideal for individuals beginning their IT career and looking to gain hands‑on experience in a structured support environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑level support for desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and other peripherals.
• Assist users with login issues, basic software functionality, and device connectivity.
• Install, configure, replace, and update computer hardware, peripherals, software, and drivers.
• Perform basic Windows OS troubleshooting, antivirus updates, patching, and security‑related tasks under guidance.
• Support device imaging, refreshes, re‑imaging, and redeployment using standard build processes.
• Log, update, and close tickets in the IT service management system with clear documentation.
• Record asset details, including serial numbers and asset tags, and follow IT policies and security standards.
• Escalate unresolved or complex issues to senior support staff as needed.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of computer hardware and Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with common desktop applications such as Microsoft 365, web browsers, and printers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
• Good communication skills with a customer‑service mindset.
• Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and support processes.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to approximately 40 lbs; work may involve sitting, standing, and hands‑on technical tasks.
