Jewelry and Accessories Designer

About the role

Madewell is seeking a creative Designer to lead the seasonal design of jewelry and accessories, including belts, hats, hair pieces, and sun accessories. You will work closely with merchandising, production, and technical design teams to ensure product execution aligns with the brand’s aesthetic and business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and unify creative execution of jewelry and accessories across the collection.
• Manage creative and technical development within the merchandise assortment strategy.
• Research seasonal trends, colors, raw materials, and styling directions.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design to maintain design integrity.
• Conduct fittings and create detailed design cards for prototypes.
• Source materials and trims, approve lab dips and fabric/yarn submissions.
• Travel overseas for trade shows, design research, and product development supervision.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of design experience, preferably in jewelry and accessories.
• Strong aesthetic judgment and ability to coach junior team members.
• Knowledge of jewelry construction, color/print research, and seasonal trends.
• Excellent illustration and presentation abilities.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
• Competent use of Microsoft Word.
• Competent use of Microsoft Excel.
