Java Technical Lead – 18-Month Contract in Richmond, VA

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Java Technical Lead for an 18‑month contract based in Richmond, VA. The role requires hands‑on development, architecture, and mentorship within a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java/JavaScript services exposing REST and SOAP APIs.
• Integrate and manage micro‑service architectures, including API gateways and message‑oriented middleware.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting for Java, MySQL, and Oracle based applications.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Guide the team in Agile practices and ensure delivery aligns with client expectations.

Required profile

• 12+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Prior experience delivering solutions for state or federal clients.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and drive technical decisions.
