Java Backend Developer

About the role

CGI is looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in Spring Boot to join our team supporting the Healthcare industry. You will design, develop, and integrate robust solutions that meet both business and technical requirements, working in a hybrid environment based in Hartford, CT or Lafayette, LA.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java/Spring Boot applications and microservices.
• Create and execute test protocols, review results, and ensure high-quality releases.
• Design and integrate APIs and database services.
• Implement Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) patterns, API‑enabled gateways, security, and multi‑cloud services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to automate business processes and support large‑scale applications.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• 4+ years building RESTful microservices using Spring Boot and NodeJS.
• 2+ years working with Amazon AWS cloud services.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, and ES6.
• Hands‑on experience with API integration, Kafka, Apache Spark, and MonoRepo environments.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and Maven.
• Proven ability to lead projects, work on large‑scale systems, and deliver reusable, testable components.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
