Java AI Engineer – Cloud & Image Processing

About the role

The Cloud/AI Developer will design, develop and maintain Java‑based, cloud‑native applications on Google Cloud Platform that enable image‑driven business workflows. You will build secure, scalable services for capturing, processing, storing and distributing images for internal use and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java applications using modern cloud‑native patterns on GCP.
• Implement end‑to‑end image capture, ingestion, processing, storage, retrieval and distribution pipelines.
• Create and version RESTful APIs for integration with internal services and external partners.
• Build image processing pipelines that handle validation, transformation, metadata extraction, indexing and lifecycle management.
• Integrate AI‑enabled capabilities such as classification, OCR, redaction, quality checks or similarity search using managed services or custom models.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, performing root‑cause analysis and preventive fixes.
• Apply secure coding practices, IAM controls, encryption and auditing to meet compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code for repeatable deployments.
• Implement observability through logging, metrics, tracing, alerting and runbooks.
• Collaborate with DevOps, QA, Product Management and security teams and participate in architecture and code reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering Java‑based cloud‑native applications on GCP.
• Familiarity with image‑centric business workflows and AI/ML use cases.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams including DevOps, QA and security.
• Strong understanding of secure coding, IAM, encryption and compliance standards.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and using infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Knowledge of observability practices such as logging, metrics and tracing.
