IT Support Specialist

About the role

The IT Support Specialist provides desktop user support to faculty, staff, and students within the UCLA School of Education & Information Studies. The role is primarily on‑site, requiring presence on campus at least three days per week, with additional days as operational needs dictate.

Key responsibilities

• Install, update, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software across all operating systems used by the school.
• Maintain workstation security, applying security updates and routine maintenance.
• Support wireless networking protocols for desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
• Configure and troubleshoot projectors, audiovisual devices, and wireless media streamers.
• Manage email, file, and print servers, including related protocols (SNMP, SMTP, IMAP, POP).
• Develop and run basic computer scripts to automate tasks.
• Administer enterprise backup and patch‑management software.
• Deploy and maintain workstation images using remote, touchless methods.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with users of varying technical backgrounds.
• Strong diagnostic skills for promptly resolving workstation problems.
• Experience with enterprise‑wide backup, patch management, and imaging solutions.
