IT Specialist – Systems Administration & Network Operations

About the role

The IT Specialist will serve as the primary network and system administrator for multiple Air Force Reserve Command locations. You will ensure the secure, reliable operation of network services and support end‑user requirements across a wide‑area environment.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain firewalls, servers, switches, routers and Cat5/Cat6 cabling.
• Develop and update configuration management plans for WAN/LAN networks.
• Create network maps, backup and recovery procedures, and monitor performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot network, hosted systems and hardware issues, documenting anomalies.
• Implement network modifications, enhancements, and security measures.
• Manage user accounts, network rights and access controls.
• Support virtualization and cloud‑computing initiatives within a federal environment.
• Provide technical assistance and training to local technicians.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or legal resident for at least three years.
• Ability to obtain a favorable background investigation.
• Willingness to travel within the Continental United States.
• Compliance with DoD 8140.03 cyber workforce qualifications.
