IT Generalist I – College of Business

About the role

The College of Business at Florida International University is seeking an IT Generalist I to deliver customer‑focused technical support to faculty, staff, and students. The role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with project execution, and providing training and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site and remote technical support for Windows and macOS environments, including university‑managed software and domains.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware problems, perform installations, repairs, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and scanners.
• Manage operating system and application updates, anti‑malware/antivirus solutions, and backup systems.
• Support major college projects such as software implementations, legacy system migrations, and technology center initiatives.
• Maintain asset inventory, conduct annual walkthroughs, and handle equipment requisitions.
• Address escalated service requests, including VIP support for senior administration.

Required profile

• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to understand and resolve user requirements.
• Experience handling complex technical escalations and providing clear recommendations.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with departmental leadership on project delivery.
