IT Desktop Support Technician (Onsite, Waukegan, IL)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Desktop Support Technician to provide on‑site field support for our clients in Waukegan, Illinois. The role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues while ensuring compliance with warranty and security policies.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve problems with desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
• Perform smart‑hand activities such as installing, configuring, and testing networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, cabling panels).
• Support Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems, including basic administration.
• Utilize ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy) to log, track, and close incidents.
• Conduct repeat‑call analysis, develop preventive actions, and participate in problem management.
• Lift and move equipment up to 50 lb as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on IT infrastructure support experience.
• Associate degree in Electronics or related field preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent vendor certifications (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo) desirable.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules and meet deadlines.
