IT Architect – Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Driver Services is seeking a senior IT Architect with deep cloud expertise to design, build, and optimize a multi‑cloud environment spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will work directly with the CIO, IT architects, cybersecurity teams, and DevOps groups to deliver secure, scalable solutions that support state services for over 10 million citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Manage cloud networking components such as VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, VPN gateways, and private endpoints.
• Implement storage, compute, and database services with redundancy, backup, and disaster‑recovery configurations.
• Conduct architecture reviews, cost‑optimization analyses, and health assessments.
• Maintain hybrid connectivity between cloud and on‑premises systems, including Direct Connect and tunnel solutions.
• Develop reusable Infrastructure‑as‑Code modules using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure Bicep.
• Automate provisioning, configuration management, and resource lifecycle to increase repeatability.
• Enforce policy‑as‑code, tagging, and auto‑scaling policies for governance and performance.

• Strong communication skills for interaction with executive stakeholders.
• Ability to align cloud initiatives with agency strategy and governance.
