ISOU Flight Registered Nurse (O-5 Billet) – Non‑Supervisory

About the role

The ISOU Flight Registered Nurse serves as a Medical Aircrew Member providing in‑flight, ground, and sea medical care for ICE and DHS missions. This senior nursing position requires advanced clinical expertise, the ability to operate in austere environments, and readiness for rapid domestic or global deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a flight nurse and program manager on aircraft, helicopters, ground vehicles, and sea vessels during ICE removal and DHS operations.
• Deliver emergency response and direct patient care to individuals in ICE custody, IHSC clinics, and migrants aboard cutters or small boats.
• Represent U.S. government health services in diplomatic and inter‑agency settings, both domestically and overseas.
• Maintain 24/7 on‑call medical consultation for IAO and manage complex patient cases with physical, mental, or social needs.
• Develop and implement program plans, ensure sustainability, and serve as subject‑matter expert for policy development and research updates.

Required profile

• Current USPHS officer or eligible Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidate.
• Advanced nursing credentials with experience beyond the intermediate clinical level.
• Ability to travel 50%+ of the time and deploy on short notice.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with high‑level diplomatic and law‑enforcement personnel.
