International Patient Coordinator – Hybrid

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of International Health seeks a full‑time International Patient Coordinator to work in a hybrid setting. The role serves as the primary liaison for international patients, ensuring their medical journey through the University Health System is seamless, timely, and courteous.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete cycle of medical services for international patients, from referral to discharge.
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and gather necessary clinical data.
• Prepare pricing, bundled packages, CPT codes, and diagnosis information; obtain letters of agreement and payments from international payers.
• Resolve transportation and lodging issues for patients and families.
• Provide on‑call, after‑hours support for international patients.
• Maintain professional relationships with physicians, referral sources, and internal staff.
• Float to other care‑coordination areas as needed, covering absences and vacations.

Required profile

• Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to handle after‑hours calls and occasional travel.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CPT coding and medical billing processes.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and international payer requirements.
• Experience using CRM systems for patient coordination.
