International Patient Coordinator – Hybrid

About the role

The International Patient Coordinator supports international patients who seek care at the University of Miami Health System. Working under the Patient Access Manager, the coordinator ensures that every step of the patient’s journey—from referral to discharge—is handled efficiently, courteously, and in compliance with established guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full‑cycle of medical services for international patients, troubleshooting issues and escalating when needed.
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and collect all necessary clinical and payer information.
• Prepare pricing and bundled service packages, obtain CPT codes and diagnosis details, and secure letters of agreement and payments from international payers.
• Coordinate transportation and lodging, including ambulance and air‑ambulance services, for patients traveling to UHealth facilities.
• Serve as the on‑call, after‑hours contact on a rotating weekly schedule to assist patients outside regular business hours.
• Float to other care‑coordination areas as needed, handling emails, calls, and CRM tasks to maintain continuity of service.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build professional relationships with physicians, referral sources, patients, and families.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
