Internal Audit Manager

About the role

Marsh is hiring an Internal Audit Manager in New York, NY, as part of its Internal Audit department. The role provides independent, objective assurance over the organisation's control environment, supports audit plan development and offers advisory services to management. It is an individual contributor position within a global team, leading complex audits from planning and fieldwork through reporting, and is based on a hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audits annually, owning the full audit lifecycle from planning and fieldwork through reporting and stakeholder presentations
• Take part in internal audit plan development and help implement a risk-based audit plan
• Perform and lead internal audits and special projects, including interviews, testing plans and review of audit reports
• Develop, maintain and review audit work programs and workpapers
• Identify control weaknesses and efficiency opportunities, and assess corrective actions
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and business leaders, including closing meetings
• Supervise and coach audit team members, and review workpapers for quality and completeness
• Manage competing priorities and keep projects on schedule
• Stay current on audit techniques, including data analytics and AI, and pursue continuing professional education
• Travel domestically and internationally about 25-35% of the time

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 5 years of audit experience, preferably in insurance, reinsurance, health/benefits, or investments/wealth management
• Executive presence and strong communication with colleagues at all levels
• Willingness and ability to travel 25-35%

Required skills

• Project management and ability to lead multiple engagements
• Experience with Optro (formerly AuditBoard) or similar workpaper platforms
• Relevant designations such as CIA or CPA
• MS Office, especially Excel
• Knowledge of IT general controls
• Data analytics and Power BI
