Insurance Verification Representative

About the role

The Insurance Verification Representative supports patient satisfaction by ensuring insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations are verified before the date of service. This position works within the UHealth system, collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to facilitate smooth patient access.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits using RTE in UChart, online portals, and phone calls.
• Update and maintain accurate insurance information in UChart, including guarantor details, policy numbers, and claim addresses.
• Create referrals, benefit-only authorizations, and preauthorizations, documenting deductibles, co‑insurance, and out‑of‑pocket amounts.
• Meet productivity standards, maintain a work queue within 14 days, and achieve a QA score of 95% or higher.
• Obtain and attach facility and provider authorizations for various POS locations.
• Communicate authorization status, denials, or required actions to patients, providers, and departments.
• Provide customer service by answering insurance‑related questions and educating patients on financial clearance processes.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Demonstrated knowledge of health insurance plans, authorizations, and referral processes.
• Ability to work accurately under productivity and quality standards.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and health‑plan representatives.
