Insurance Investment Banking Managing Director

About the role

Marsh Re is looking for an experienced Insurance Investment Banking Managing Director to join its Capital & M&A team in New York. You will lead and expand M&A advisory and capital raising activities, engaging mid- and large-sized clients and overseeing a broad range of transactions in primary and reinsurance markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and expand M&A/strategic advisory and capital raising activities, broadening the client base to mid- and large-sized companies.
• Originate and participate in transactions involving P&C carriers, MGAs, mutuals, insurtechs and start-ups across primary and reinsurance markets.
• Develop and implement a plan to broaden investor coverage to sovereign wealth funds, pensions, endowments, family offices, private equity, hedge funds and asset managers.
• Lead and mentor advisory teams in New York, fostering a collaborative culture.
• Navigate potential conflicts with broking businesses through high-level communication and stakeholder management.
• Assess, structure and execute M&A and capital raising transactions, including buy-side and sell-side deals, joint ventures and new company formations.
• Present strategic and financial analyses to senior insurance and reinsurance clients.
• Project manage third-party service providers such as legal counsel, actuarial firms, rating agencies and consultants.
• Support colleagues on ILS/sidecar transactions and legacy solutions.

Required profile

• At least 15 years of insurance capital raising and M&A advisory experience, including new company formation, strategic advisory and M&A execution.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Extensive pre-existing network and excellent reputation across global (re)insurance and capital markets.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience advising C-suite executives and collaborating across departments.
• Ability to travel internationally as required.
• Preferred: experience leading teams in a highly commercial environment, an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset, and M&A and capital raising experience specifically in the insurance sector.
