Instrumentation and Controls Technician

About the role

Envirogen, a provider of water treatment solutions, is looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician to install, repair and maintain its electrical and instrumentation systems, equipment and fixtures. The role is hybrid and pays USD 110,000 to 115,000.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment using test equipment and industry-standard procedures.
• Carry out routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments on machines and related equipment.
• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on WWTP and process water systems and equipment.
• Install new or replacement instrumentation and control systems, equipment and support systems.
• Calibrate instrumentation using various meters and devices.
• Respond to alarm calls for emergency situations at the facility.

Required profile

• Experience in a related position, in a similar environment or in process water systems, with the ability to understand complex specifications, blueprints and manuals.
• Ability to maintain, install and repair equipment such as pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed and odor control, disinfection equipment, vacuum filters and belt presses.
• Ability to use precision measuring devices, testing equipment and shop tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinder and torque wrench.
• Ability to diagnose process problems across multiple unit processes and troubleshoot mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic equipment.
• Courses in wastewater or process water treatment are preferred.

Required skills

• Siemens Process Instrumentation, Allen Bradley PLC instrumentation and VFD logic.
• Reading wiring diagrams, basic ladder diagrams for controls, specifications and vendor instructions.
• Computer Maintenance Management System software.
