About the role
The University of Miami seeks a Board‑eligible General Surgeon to serve as a Fellow Instructor for one year. This faculty position focuses on teaching advanced laparoscopic techniques to surgical residents while maintaining active clinical responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Perform and demonstrate advanced laparoscopic surgeries alongside residents, chief residents, and attending physicians.
- Lead resident teams on inpatient wards for at least eight weeks, providing direct supervision and mentorship.
- Conduct admissions, consultations, diagnoses, and non‑surgical management of general medical problems.
- Document patient charts accurately and timely, and ensure patient education is delivered.
- Participate fully in all residency program activities and educational sessions.
Required profile
- Board‑eligible General Surgeon with a full, active medical license in Florida.
- Committed to a one‑year instructional experience focused on resident education.
- Demonstrated dexterity and competency in essential surgical procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior faculty and resident teams.
