Instructor – Adult Basic & Secondary Education

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a full‑time Instructor to deliver Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Adult Secondary Education (ASE) courses. You will work primarily at the Alpharetta North‑Fulton campus, with occasional duties on the Lawrenceville campus, providing instruction to students pursuing high‑school equivalency.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in mathematics, reading comprehension, English grammar and writing, social studies, and science.
• Adapt lesson plans for both in‑person and virtual delivery, including evenings and occasional Saturdays.
• Assess student progress, maintain detailed records, and prepare reports for the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
• Provide counseling and support to help students meet high‑school equivalency goals.
• Collaborate with staff to develop curriculum and instructional materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (minimum requirement).
• Strong knowledge of the subject areas you will teach.
• Excellent customer‑service, multitasking, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours and interact courteously with students, staff, and the public.
• Commitment to accommodating diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using instructional software and virtual teaching platforms.
