Instructional Assistant Professor of Geology

About the role

Texas A&M International University seeks an Instructional Assistant Professor of Geology to begin in Fall 2027. This fixed‑term, nine‑month faculty position will support the School of Engineering’s growing curriculum in geology, earth science, and related engineering courses.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate geology and earth‑science lecture and laboratory courses, including core curriculum requirements.
• Provide instruction in Civil Engineering topics such as Hydraulics and Hydrology, and deliver GIS‑related content for Systems Engineering.
• Advise and mentor students, contribute to curriculum development, assessment, recruitment, and accreditation activities.
• Participate in School service and support teaching in other engineering programs as needed.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Geology, Geosciences, Earth Science, or a closely related discipline by the start date (candidates near completion may be considered).
• Demonstrated ability to teach geology and earth‑science lecture and lab courses.
• Experience or expertise in hydrology, water resources, environmental geology, GIS, remote sensing, or geospatial analysis is highly desirable.
• Experience in laboratory or field‑based instruction, curriculum development, or interdisciplinary teaching is a plus.
