Inside Account Manager, Academic and Government

About the role

We are looking for an Inside Account Manager to serve academic and government customers, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the customer lifecycle. You will drive engagement, subscription renewals, and adoption of Elsevier solutions while contributing to business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of academic and government accounts, building long‑term relationships and serving as the primary inside sales contact.
• Drive customer retention through subscription renewals, risk identification, and value‑maximizing strategies.
• Conduct proactive outreach via phone, email, virtual meetings and digital channels to increase product adoption and uncover expansion opportunities.
• Understand institutional priorities and recommend solutions such as journal subscriptions, eBooks, databases, research intelligence, AI‑enabled products and workflow tools.
• Develop pricing proposals, renewal strategies and business cases while adhering to pricing guidelines.
• Own the full sales process from opportunity identification to forecasting, proposal development, contract execution and post‑sale follow‑up.
• Partner with Field Account Managers and internal teams to execute strategic account plans and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
• Maintain accurate account plans, pipelines and forecasts in Salesforce and other CRM systems.
• Monitor market trends, funding environments and government research priorities to identify new growth opportunities.
• Achieve renewal, revenue and growth targets while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Salesforce (CRM) proficiency.
