Information Management Intern

About the role

The Department of Peacekeeping Operations is seeking an Information Management Intern to support data‑driven initiatives. This six‑month unpaid internship can be undertaken remotely or in a hybrid arrangement at the UN premises in New York.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in exploring generative AI tools (large language models) for data processing, automation, and information management.
• Conduct statistical analysis of data sets and create infographics and PowerPoint presentations.
• Design and implement data‑driven reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• Develop data‑collection applications with the Microsoft O365 suite, including SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, and MS SQL.
• Support prototype or proof‑of‑concept applications that incorporate generative AI capabilities.
• Prepare technical documentation and guidance on data‑collection and visualization tools.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s or PhD program.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
