Infectious Disease Physician

About the role

The Department of Medicine at Albany Medical College is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible Infectious Disease Physician to join its academic team. This full‑time position focuses on adult inpatient consultation with one half‑day of clinic per week and includes participation in the institution’s Antibiotic Stewardship Program.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of infectious conditions, including sepsis, bloodstream infections, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, prosthetic joint infections, complex skin and soft‑tissue infections, and multidrug‑resistant organisms.
• Provide inpatient HIV‑related care and manage opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients.
• Handle post‑surgical and device‑related infections and collaborate with hospital epidemiology initiatives.
• Participate in weekend call rotation (1:5) and support telemedicine services for affiliated community hospitals.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including hospital medicine, critical care, surgery, oncology, transplant, nephrology, and emergency medicine.

• Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Disease.
• Interest in academic medicine and potential involvement in hospital epidemiology.
• Commitment to full‑time adult infectious disease practice.
