Industrial Wastewater Equipment Operator

About the role

Veolia is seeking a reliable, safety‑focused Operator I to run high‑capacity centrifuges and filter‑press systems in an industrial wastewater treatment facility. The role is essential for maintaining equipment efficiency, meeting regulatory standards, and supporting the plant’s overall environmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust dewatering equipment, including centrifuges and filter presses.
• Inspect components, lubricate, and verify instrumentation before start‑up.
• Start up, run, and shut down systems according to SOPs.
• Track process parameters such as flow rates, pressures, torque, cake dryness, and filtrate clarity.
• Troubleshoot mechanical or process issues and coordinate maintenance.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
• Collect, label, and log samples for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and inspection checklists.
• Assist with chemical handling (polymers, pH adjustment) and safe sludge disposal.
• Follow safety protocols, including LOTO, confined‑space entry, and PPE requirements.
• Support environmental and compliance audits by providing data and system access.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training in water/wastewater operations or industrial maintenance is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, and work in noisy, odorous, and chemical‑exposed environments.
• Forklift operation certification.
