Industrial Electrician / Electrical Technician

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing products with production facilities worldwide, is looking for an Industrial Electrician to join its team at the Sylacauga, Alabama plant. The plant makes premium roofing shingles and composite rolled roofing in a high-speed, continuous asphalt shingle manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will maximize plant performance and run time through troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment while following all safety rules and IKO values.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and troubleshoot distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breakers and fuse disconnects.
• Manage assigned work orders and troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment.
• Work in a team with other maintenance personnel and with minimal supervision, managing time across multiple jobs with varying priorities.
• Work with computers, line drives and PLCs, and run conduit while knowing relevant codes.
• Comply with safety rules including Lock, Tag and Verify, and use technical manuals and schematics.
• Organize the work area, tools and parts.

Required profile

• At least five years of maintenance experience in a plant setting.
• Ability to stand for long periods, climb stairs and work on high areas.
• Subject to 24-hour call-out, shifts and weekend work.
• Not required but helpful: an associate degree in industrial electrical maintenance or a licensed electrician.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Allen Bradley drives, relay logic, PLCs and programming.
• Proficiency diagnosing and testing motors and motor control circuits.
• Experience with instrumentation sensors and transmitters.
• Ability to work with computer-based maintenance software.
• Safety systems knowledge and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
