Industrial Controls Software Engineer, Pulp & Paper

About the role

ABB is hiring an Industrial Controls Software Engineer for its pulp and paper business in Westerville, OH. The position reports to the QCS Engineering Manager and acts as design authority for an engineering discipline of medium complexity, completing assignments on small projects or parts of larger ones in line with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and cybersecurity policies.

Key responsibilities

• Sales support: provide technical support for software special proposals
• Planning and schedule management, and develop system functional specifications when acting as lead
• Manage system software implementation and prepare system software for internal integration tests
• Support factory acceptance tests with customers and commissioning at customer sites, including start-up and follow-up on software issues
• Provide Level 3 support-line coverage periodically and feed technical issues back to the Engineering Manager
• Support project activities during start-up, optimization and results stages, and communicate customer feedback to the Project Manager

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of professional work or related experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Paper Science; QCS application experience in the pulp and paper industry preferred
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Work model: onsite in Westerville, OH

Required skills

• Preferred: VMware vSphere knowledge, networking knowledge, Microsoft operating systems experience, previous industrial automation experience
