Hybrid Surgery Scheduler – Orthopedics

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Orthopedics is seeking a full‑time, hybrid Surgery Scheduler to coordinate orthopedic surgical procedures. The role serves as the primary liaison between surgeons, patients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth peri‑operative operations.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule surgical appointments, monitor cancellations, and keep daily schedules accurate.
• Complete pre‑operative paperwork, obtain referrals, authorizations, and verify insurance for procedures and implants.
• Coordinate pre‑op requirements such as imaging, medical clearances, and specialty consults.
• Follow up with departments to ensure all pre‑op results are available before surgery.
• Inform patients about visit activities, provide educational pamphlets, and explain financial responsibilities.
• Act as the primary liaison between orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, patients, and care teams.
• Coordinate implant, equipment, and vendor needs for surgeries.
• Adhere to university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant scheduling or healthcare experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
