Human Resources Officer

About the role

The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund – Pension Administration is looking for a Human Resources Officer to join its Business Support Section in New York. Reporting to the Human Resources Chief of Unit, the incumbent will support managers and staff across the Fund’s diverse operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR advice and support to managers and employees on policies, regulations and procedures.
• Prepare special reports and lead or contribute to HR projects and initiatives.
• Identify upcoming vacancies, draft vacancy notices, review applications, shortlist candidates and advise client offices on selections.
• Serve as ex‑officio member of appointment and promotion boards, prepare cases and issue job offers, including grade step recommendations.
• Monitor recruitment and placement activities, recommend procedural improvements and supervise HR Assistants in processing personnel actions and contracts.
• Interpret and apply staff rules, advise on salary, travel, social security and other benefit entitlements, and review exceptions to policy.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in human resources, preferably within an international or multilateral organization.
• Good knowledge of United Nations staff rules and pension fund regulations.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Fluent English; additional UN official languages are an asset.
