HSE Manager

About the role

Alphagary, part of Orbia, designs and manufactures specialty compounds used in extruded or molded products. The HSE Manager is an onsite role in Leominster, MA, responsible for keeping Health, Safety and Environmental management systems maintained, developed, communicated and implemented in line with government and group guidelines and statutory requirements, within the identified budget. The position is the lead role for ISRS registration of the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor safety programs and procedures to comply with regulations such as OSHA and EPA, and conduct routine inspections and internal audits
• Carry out risk assessments, implement corrective actions and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, including workers' compensation reporting
• Deliver safety training and orientations for employees and new hires
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits, and maintain environmental management systems
• Maintain emergency response plans, run drills and keep records of incidents, training, inspections and compliance
• Report EHS metrics and trends to management and propose improvements to safety culture and environmental sustainability

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field; postgraduate diploma in HSE management desirable
• 3+ years of manufacturing industry experience or industrial EHS roles; 4+ years in a leading advisory HSE role desirable
• Proven track record of managing HSE programs
• Excellent communication skills and project, time and organizational skills with attention to detail

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices
• Professional certifications such as CSP preferred; OSHA 30 certification a plus
• Familiarity with EHS software and data management tools desirable

• Compensation typically $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, location and internal equity, with possible short- and long-term incentives
