HR Business Partner – R&D (Security & Privacy) – San Jose

About the role

The HR Business Partner will serve as a trusted advisor to senior engineering, security, privacy and trust leaders within TikTok's Research & Development organization. Based in San Jose, you will own the end‑to‑end HR strategy for a global department, driving organizational effectiveness, leadership coaching and change management across distributed teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support engineering, security and privacy roadmaps.
• Act as the primary HRBP for a global department, handling generalist and business partner duties across multiple time zones.
• Provide strategic coaching on organizational design to adapt to regulatory pressures and security initiatives.
• Advise on talent assessment, career pathing and succession planning for specialized engineering, privacy, security and trust roles.
• Lead resolution of complex employee‑relations issues worldwide while preserving an innovative culture.
• Oversee full‑cycle performance management, tailoring goals and calibrations for technical outcomes.
• Use people data and analytics to deliver insights on team health, retention bottlenecks and scaling.
• Collaborate with global HR peers and Centers of Excellence to design compensation, engagement and talent acquisition solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 + years of experience in Human Resources.
• At least 2 + years of experience as an HR Business Partner.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin to work with stakeholders in Mainland China.
