Housekeeping Supervisor

About the role

The Housekeeping Supervisor reports to the Director of Housekeeping and oversees the housekeeping staff, inspecting their work daily so that guest rooms are ready for occupancy. The role keeps the property's public spaces and all areas consistently clean, organized and sanitary, meeting the standards of Forbes Five-Star properties and Relais & Chateaux members. It is a non-exempt hourly position.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director and department leadership with housekeeping and laundry duties, and handle guest requests promptly
• Help create, review and monitor staff schedules, confirm arrivals and find substitutes for absent staff
• Prepare work priorities from the list of vacant rooms, organize assignments and share room availability with the manager
• Inspect furniture, walls and floor coverings and report needs to management
• Attend staff meetings with other supervisors, discuss policies and complaints, and recommend improvements
• Maintain a safe, secure and healthy workplace in line with legal regulations
• Inventory supplies, place orders and verify deliveries; follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns and call for repairs
• Help manage property operations to maximize profitability and growth

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current, valid driver's license
• At least two years in housekeeping, including one year of supervisory experience
• Experience leading a housekeeping team in a multi-unit facility
• Able to stand for up to 8 hours a day and lift up to 30 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally
• Clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, reliability and confidentiality of guest information
