Hourly Caregiver / Home Care Aide

About the role

IOA at Home provides direct care to adults with disabilities and older adults in their homes, hospitals, day centers, skilled nursing facilities and community residential facilities, under the direction of the Director of Home Care and the staffing and client service managers. The position is open to part-time, full-time, 12-hour shifts, short shifts and weekends, with services provided 7 days a week across Sacramento and Placer Counties.

Key responsibilities

• Bathing, dressing and personal care
• Meal preparation and medication reminders
• Errands and shopping
• Respite and companion engagement
• Light housekeeping and laundry
• Mobility and transfer assistance, pet care and transportation
• Alzheimer's and dementia care, Parkinson's care and hospice support

Required profile

• Home Care Services Bureau (PER ID#) registration
• Livescan/fingerprinting clearance and a clean criminal background
• Tuberculosis clearance (skin test, X-ray or blood test)
• Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (two I-9-compliant IDs such as driver's license, California ID or Social Security card)
• English language proficiency is required
• At least 1 year of non-medical experience caring for elderly or disabled adults or related caregiving experience
• Reliable regular transportation

Required skills

• Ability to lift 35 lbs or more with proper body mechanics; training provided
• Ability to lift, transfer, push/pull, reach, bend, walk, maneuver and reposition
• Desirable: basic smartphone and computer skills, bilingualism in Tagalog, Spanish, Chinese or Russian, driving your own car, CNA or HHA certification, and a background as a student or retiree of an LVN or RN
