Hot Cell Operator

About the role

Zeno Power is looking for a motivated Hot Cell Operator to support the fabrication and commercialization of Radioisotope Power Systems at its Radiological Facility in Sunol, California. The role involves safely operating shielded hot‑cell equipment and remote‑handling tools to process, package, and transfer radioactive materials.

Key responsibilities

• Operate hot‑cell manipulators, cranes, and remote tooling to handle radioactive materials in accordance with approved procedures.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑operation inspections of equipment, shielding, and containment systems.
• Execute work under radiological work permits while maintaining ALARA principles.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on hot‑cell equipment.
• Document operations, maintain data logs, and track material movement per regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; A.S. or B.S. in a technical or nuclear‑related field preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience operating hot cells, glove boxes, or similar remote‑handling equipment in a radiological environment.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures precisely and maintain accurate records.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting skills.

Required skills

• Master‑slave manipulators and remote‑handling tooling operation.
• Radiological work controls, ALARA principles, and contamination control practices.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and minor equipment repair.
• Use of radiation detection instrumentation.
