Hospital Security Officer

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a Hospital Security Officer in Montebello, California. The officer safeguards a high-profile healthcare customer by monitoring the premises and protecting staff, members and visitors, detecting and preventing suspicious activity while providing friendly, professional customer service. Pay is $25 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Stay vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazards and unusual activity
• Patrol on foot, bicycle or vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems and unauthorized people
• De-escalate situations orally and physically when needed
• Inspect security devices and fire control equipment
• Screen members, visitors and client employees to speed their admission to the facility
• Respond calmly and urgently to fires, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, hazardous materials or inclement weather
• Possible duties: patient escort, patient watch, safety escort, and assisting or transporting deceased persons to the morgue

Required profile

• Bilingual
• Hospital security experience of 1+ year, or general security experience of 2+ years
• Open to afternoon, overnight and weekend shifts
• Experience dealing with customers, troubleshooting and managing stressful situations
• At least 18 years old for unarmed roles, 21+ for armed roles
• High school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience
• Valid driver's license required for driving positions
• Background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
• Licensing requirements depend on state and local law

Required skills

• Management of Aggressive Behavior certification after completing post-offer training
• Customer service and de-escalation
