Hone Machine Operator – 2nd Shift

About the role

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group in Torrance, CA is seeking an experienced Hone Machine Operator for the 2nd shift (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm). You will work onsite in an aerospace manufacturing environment, operating honing equipment to meet precise dimensional and surface‑finish requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain honing machines to achieve tight tolerances on aerospace components.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, FAA regulations, and aerospace quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and surface finishes.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow manufacturing procedures.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED (preferred) with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Minimum 3 years experience setting up and operating honing machines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lb, and handle machined components.

Required skills

• Honing machine operation (including Sunnen or similar equipment).
• CNC honing experience.
• Reading blueprints and technical drawings.
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Use of precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace manufacturing standards.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
