Home Care Aide - Southbay

About the role

IOA provides home care services to older adults and adults with disabilities across the Bay Area, including San Francisco, Marin, Contra Costa, Alameda, the Peninsula, San Mateo and Santa Clara. Home Care Aides work under the direction of the Staffing and Client Service Managers, serving clients in their homes, hospitals, day centers, skilled nursing facilities and community residential facilities. Flexible hours are available: part-time, full-time, short shifts, weekends or live-in.

Key responsibilities

• Personal care such as bathing, dressing and grooming
• Driving or accompanying clients to shopping, errands or doctor's appointments
• Assisting with transfers, ambulation and exercise
• Meal preparation including special diets and feeding assistance
• Light housekeeping, laundry and linen changes
• Medication reminders and respite/companionship
• Pet care and mobility and transfer assistance
• Care for Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's and hospice clients

Required profile

• Home Care Services Bureau (PER ID#) registration
• Livescan/fingerprinting clearance and a clean criminal background
• Tuberculosis clearance (skin test, X-ray or blood test)
• Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (two I-9-compliant IDs, e.g. driver's license, California ID, SS card, US passport)
• English language proficiency is a must
• At least 1 year of non-medical experience caring for elderly or disabled adults or related caregiving experience
• Reliable, able to communicate continuously with the administrative team and to work both with a team and independently

Required skills

• Desirable: basic smartphone and technical skills, bilingualism in Tagalog, Spanish, Chinese or Russian
• Desirable: CNA or HHA certification; basic computer skills are highly advantageous
• Desirable: students or retirees of LVN/RN backgrounds
• Physical ability to lift 35 lbs or more and to transfer, move and reposition clients

• Pay range of $23-$24 per hour, depending on experience and other factors
