HIM Associate II

About the role

R1 RCM is looking for an onsite HIM Associate II at its Murray Resource Center. The associate delivers customer service to patients, healthcare professionals and payers while keeping all patient information confidential. The role involves preparing, scanning, answering phones and organizing medical record information so that health information and data are complete and accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve charts from all patient care areas and carry out chart check-in, reconciliation and follow-up on missing documentation.
• Prepare, scan, index and validate the quality of all medical records.
• Enter information by hand-keying it into various data systems and update spreadsheets and data systems to keep information current.
• Answer incoming calls about medical records, request status updates and general department inquiries.
• Provide caring, compassionate customer service to patients, physicians and their staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience with HIM, medical records or vital records preferred.
• Experience navigating multiple systems to collect patient information and enter it into computer systems.
• Detail-oriented, organized and able to handle sensitive information.

Required skills

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and data entry skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills in a healthcare setting.

The position is US-based and pays $17.60-$25.25 per hour depending on role, level, location, experience and education. The employer states it offers a competitive benefits package.
