About the role
The Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic will join BMEI’s Salt Lake City team, reporting to the Department Manager. You will keep a fleet of trucks operational through inspection, maintenance, and repair.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect and test vehicles, perform preventive maintenance such as engine tune‑ups, oil changes, tire rotation, wheel balancing and filter replacement.
- Diagnose and repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, and body damage; verify serviceability with test drives.
- Maintain vehicle appearance, clean and paint as needed, and keep accurate service records.
- Troubleshoot shop equipment, manage supplies and inventory, and use warranty options to control costs.
Required profile
- Knowledge of tractor‑and‑trailer components including engine, transmission, brakes, suspensions and running gear.
- Ability to work independently, pass drug screening and motor‑vehicle background check, and perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for long periods.
