Health/Nutrition Coordinator

About the role

The Health/Nutrition Coordinator ensures compliance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) regulations within Head Start and Early Head Start kitchens. The role involves regular monitoring, data collection and reporting so that food service operations meet federal, state and local standards, supporting the nutritional well-being of enrolled children. The position is full-time (36/52 hours).

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular on-site visits to Head Start and Early Head Start kitchens to check compliance with CACFP regulations.
• Review meal counts, menus and attendance records, and ensure kitchen operations, food storage and meal preparation follow health, safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain accurate records of meal counts, daily attendance and menus, collect documentation for audits and prepare reports for the Nutrition Coordinator or Program Manager.
• Train kitchen staff on CACFP regulations, meal patterns and documentation, and help develop training materials.
• Review menus against CACFP nutritional guidelines and work with the Nutrition Coordinator on menu adjustments.
• Prepare for CACFP audits, take part in on-site audits and help respond to findings.
• Stay current on CACFP regulation changes and help develop related policies and procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management or a related field preferred.
• ServSafe or other food safety certification preferred.
