Healthcare Equity Capital Markets Analyst

About the role

Barclays Investment Banking is looking for an Equity Capital Markets Healthcare Analyst in New York. The role supports the origination and execution of equity capital market transactions for Investment Grade clients in the healthcare sector, working in a client-facing team that originates new deals and helps companies optimise their capital structures. The position is permanent and regulated by FINRA.

Key responsibilities

• Raise capital and manage the financial risk of clients, including financial advisory, origination of market opportunities, research and economic analysis.
• Maintain strong relationships with corporate, financial and institutional clients to understand their financing needs.
• Develop complex financial models to assess assets, companies or securities and structure capital raising, including IPOs, investment-grade debt underwriting, leveraged financing and derivative hedging.
• Work with Coverage, M&A, Syndicate, Global Markets and other teams on origination, due diligence and execution of capital market transactions.
• Identify and manage transaction risks and develop risk mitigation strategies in line with regulatory requirements.
• Carry out research, financial data analysis and market research, and develop investment recommendations.

Required profile

• Background in investment banking, ideally with direct experience in equity capital markets.
• Understanding of equity markets, interest rates, macroeconomics and corporate finance.
• Relevant licensing, including SIE, Series 79 and Series 63.
• Highly organised, able to manage several projects at once and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Quantitative and assessing skills, interpreting market and corporate data to build client solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Valued: industry knowledge, exposure to derivatives and equity-linked financing, and collaborative leadership.
