Health Screening Technician

About the role

The Health Screening Technician works under the supervision of the Manager of Wellness Services at the Community Health and Wellness Center. The role involves performing various health screenings, communicating results to clients, and ensuring equipment is properly maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct finger‑stick screenings using the Cholestech analyzer and other health‑screening equipment.
• Set up equipment, run quality controls, and maintain devices according to JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and OSHA regulations.
• Register clients, collect fees, and provide test results with appropriate referrals and patient‑education materials.
• Collaborate with Akron General labs on logbooks, troubleshooting, and comparative studies.

Required profile

• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Degree in a health field (preferred) and licensure as a Medical Technologist (MT), Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred.
• Physically able to lift equipment and tables; able to use personal protective equipment as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Cholestech analyzer and other health‑screening devices.
• Knowledge of JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and OSHA regulations related to clinical screenings.
• Ability to perform equipment set‑up, quality control procedures, and basic troubleshooting.
