Community Registered Dietitian

About the role

The Community Registered Dietitian coordinates nutrition services for ambulatory clients facing food insecurity and supports the hospital Food Pantry operations. The role blends direct patient education with pantry management and community partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nutrition education to individuals and groups, tailoring content to cultural, ethical, and religious values.
• Coordinate food pantry inventory, ordering, and distribution, ensuring compliance with hospital and accreditation standards.
• Develop educational materials on budgeting, label reading, cooking, and food safety for pantry users.
• Collaborate with discharge planners, medical staff, and community food banks to connect clients with needed resources.
• Supervise pantry staff and volunteers, manage record‑keeping, and track donations and deliveries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, or a related field from an accredited program.
• Active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification and state licensure as a Licensed Dietitian (LD).
• Minimum three years of experience working with diverse patient populations.
• Completion of Foodbank orientation, Fresh Track training, and current ServSafe certification.

Required skills

• ServSafe food safety training.
• Experience with Fresh Track intake system.
• Familiarity with Primarius ordering system for foodbank purchases.
