Health Information Specialist – Medical Records

About the role

The Health Information Specialist supports a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinic staff by managing clinical documentation and medical records. This full‑time, onsite position ensures accurate order processing, results coordination, and electronic health record maintenance to uphold high standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Process and track outgoing orders, follow up with patients, and retrieve test results from external practices.
• Maintain and organize digital medical records using a computerized chart location system.
• Request, obtain, and import new patient records from various EHR platforms and imaging sources.
• Prepare new patient charts using intake questionnaires and upload office visit notes, imaging reports, and lab results.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in a health information department, medical records, or related healthcare field.
• High school diploma required; associate degree in Health Information Technology preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to multitask.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Office 365.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record systems.
• Familiarity with EPIC (preferred but not required).
