Health Information Administrator

About the role

The Dixon Correctional Center is seeking a Health Information Administrator to oversee the overall health information services program for the facility. The position is full-time, salaried and based in the office, with an anticipated starting salary of $5,556 per month (range $5,556-$7,819). It is a union position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the overall health information services program and act as a working supervisor.
• Supervise and take part in abstracting, analyzing and interpreting health information records for summaries, special reports and research projects.
• Provide consultation and assistance to medical and clinical staff on evaluating the quality of patient care and on developing criteria and methods for evaluation.
• Serve as chairperson of the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the above duties.

Required profile

• Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college, plus RHIA certification from the American Health Information Management Association.
• One year of professional experience in a health information records facility, or
• Four years of high school, an approved medical records training program, RHIT certification, and five years of progressively responsible experience as an RHIT in a medical program.
• Ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check and a drug screen.
• Ability to use digital technology and tools in managing and supporting digital enhancements.

Preferred qualifications

• At least two years of experience in health information management, including Joint Commission, HCFA and CARF rules and regulations.
• Extensive knowledge of medical, anatomical, psychological and psychiatric terminology.
• Experience with federal and state confidentiality statutes, medical jurisprudence, continuous quality improvement programs and abstracting health information records.
