Head, US Patient Safety

About the role

The Head of US Patient Safety is accountable for the overall strategic direction, operational execution and performance of the Patient Safety (PV) system for the USA, in line with International Patient Safety priorities and business needs. Working closely with Genentech, the role is the primary steward of the affiliate PV system and safety risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Affiliate Patient Safety strategy with cross-functional partners, and serve on the IPS Leadership Team to co-own its vision, governance and performance
• Maintain oversight of the local PV system to ensure compliance, operational efficiency and inspection readiness
• Ensure product safety launch readiness, aligning global safety solutions with therapeutic strategies and minimizing local risks
• Lead communication and education on safety risks to healthcare professionals, patients and external stakeholders
• Drive collection, analysis and sharing of safety insights using digital solutions and real-world evidence where appropriate
• Provide solid-line leadership to the US Patient Safety Leadership Team, including talent oversight, succession planning and capability building

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) or higher degree in a life science discipline (e.g. PharmD, PhD, MSc)
• At least 12 years of experience in PV, clinical research or development, including 7+ years in senior Patient Safety leadership roles in complex regional or global settings
• At least 7 years of executive people leadership, coaching and developing large, multi-layered teams and networks of leaders
• Proven enterprise-first approach and executive presence influencing senior leadership locally and globally
• Extensive experience engaging with major Tier-1 global health authorities and shaping international PV ecosystems

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $282,000 - $523,600 for the California location, depending on experience, qualifications and location
• A discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance
