Head of Market – Distributed Water Infrastructure

About the role

Montauk Capital is seeking a Head of Market to lead the go‑to‑market strategy for its stealth water company, which delivers clean, affordable drinking water through distributed, AI‑driven systems. This remote, senior‑level position will partner closely with the technical team and CEO to shape early deployments and build a scalable sales playbook.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and expand the go‑to‑market strategy for target customers such as high‑end hotels, corporate‑industrial sites, and high‑profile events.
• Identify and open doors with early‑stage accounts, building a focused pipeline of high‑potential opportunities.
• Lead discovery conversations to understand load profiles, constraints, and buying processes.
• Build multi‑threaded relationships across facilities, sustainability, and finance functions.
• Co‑design pilot deployments, translating customer needs into scoped projects and configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering and finance to assess feasibility, economics, and deployment phasing.
• Capture early‑customer patterns and feed insights into product roadmap, pricing, and positioning.
• Contribute to a long‑term strategic vision and the creation of a repeatable sales playbook.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing full commercial cycles from discovery to pilot rollout in B2B environments.
• Ability to build deep, trusted relationships with early adopters and multi‑disciplinary stakeholders.
• Strong consultative selling mindset with a focus on understanding energy and sustainability needs.
• Experience translating field insights into product, pricing, and go‑to‑market strategies.
