Harvey Development Technician – Simulation Support

About the role

The Gordon Center at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Harvey Development Technician to support the design, assembly, and operation of the Harvey cardiopulmonary patient simulator and related educational systems. The role combines hands‑on technical work with support for faculty and external users.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, fabricate, and calibrate 3D‑printed components, cables, and mechanical movement modules for the Harvey simulator.
• Perform quality‑control inspections, document processes, and prepare simulators for shipment.
• Provide technical support to user institutions via email and video calls, and assist with on‑site installations and training.
• Maintain simulation equipment in learning environments, manage inventory, and troubleshoot audiovisual and hardware systems.
• Collaborate with faculty to develop scenarios and ensure consistent training procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of practical experience in electronic and mechanical assembly.
• Two years of experience working with simulation systems and technical equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work flexible hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with 3D‑printing, electronic and mechanical assembly.
• Simulation equipment maintenance and audiovisual system operation.
• Strong troubleshooting and multitasking abilities.
